DataQuest wants to make employment screening efficient and effective for both employers and applicants.
Here are answers to some common questions about the employment screening process:
What is a background check?
What is a background check?
A background check investigates your background based on criteria determined by your prospective or current employer. It may include information on your employment, education, criminal history, motor vehicle and license record checks from a variety of sources.
If you have questions about what kind of information is being requested, you should consult with the employer who is requesting the background check.
How long does it take to complete a background check?
How long does it take to complete a background check?
Turnaround time varies depending on what background check services the employer requests DataQuest to conduct. Generally, the turnaround time for a domestic criminal background check is an average of 1-3 business days. There are some instances though where the background check may take longer. For example, if there are any court holidays or closures, the courts may experience back logs; if any court files or information is ordered for further verification, this may also cause some delays; if the criminal background check is requested from another country, then it could take longer; or if we are conducting employment and/or education verifications and are having difficulty reaching these employers or education institutions, then this may also cause delays. This is why it’s very important to provide as much information as you can in order to help facilitate the background check process.
Does having a background check processed on me mean that I am hired?
Does having a background check processed on me mean that I am hired?
No. A background check can be an important part of the hiring process, but it does not mean that you are hired or that the employer will offer you a position. DataQuest provides background check services and does not make hiring decisions. We don’t have and cannot provide information about specific hiring decisions. If you have questions, you should contact the employer.
